Egyptian financial super-app Khazna has closed a $16 million pre-Series B funding round, bringing the total capital raised by the Cairo-based fintech to more than $63 million as it prepares to apply for a digital banking licence in Egypt and expand into Saudi Arabia.
The round included Quona Capital and Speedinvest, alongside regional investors including Aljazira Capital, anb Seed Fund, DisrupTECH, ICU Ventures, Khwarizmi Ventures and SANAD Fund for MSME. Quona and Speedinvest are both existing investors in Khazna. Quona is a specialist emerging-markets fintech fund with a portfolio spanning Latin America, Africa, and Asia, while Speedinvest has backed early-stage financial services companies across Europe and beyond.
BREAK-EVEN AND LICENCE PLANS
Khazna reached break-even in January 2025.
Egypt's central bank issued a regulatory framework for digital-only banks in July 2024. Khazna's super-app combines payments, credit, savings, and related financial services on a single platform.
SAUDI ARABIA AND TADAWUL
Beyond Egypt, Khazna aims to generate between 40 and 50 per cent of its total business from the kingdom within a four-year horizon. That target is linked to the company's ambition to list eventually on the Saudi Exchange, known as Tadawul, which chief executive Omar Saleh described as one of the region's most liquid and retail-investor-driven stock exchanges.
