Stripe has announced the launch of its most ambitious product expansion to date: a comprehensive embedded banking suite that enables enterprise platforms and marketplaces to offer full banking services within their own applications.
The new suite, branded "Stripe Banking-as-a-Service," includes deposit account creation, automated lending, virtual and physical card issuance, and treasury management tools — all accessible through Stripe's existing API infrastructure.
"We're removing the last barriers between software platforms and financial services," said Stripe's co-founder during the product launch event. "Any platform can now offer banking-grade financial products without building the underlying infrastructure."
The launch positions Stripe in direct competition with dedicated Banking-as-a-Service providers while leveraging its existing relationships with millions of businesses worldwide.
Early enterprise partners include several major SaaS platforms and marketplace operators, with Stripe projecting that embedded banking revenues will constitute a significant portion of its business within three years.
