ABN AMRO reported a net profit of EUR 619 million for the first quarter of 2025, delivering a return on equity of approximately 10% and beating analysts' profit estimates despite the European Central Bank's ongoing easing cycle. The results, released on 14 May, showed loan growth across both the mortgage and corporate lending books, continued growth in fee income, and an impairment charge of EUR 5 million for the quarter, reflecting net additions for individual files offset by model-related releases.

LENDING VOLUMES ADVANCE IN BOTH RETAIL AND CORPORATE

ABN AMRO's mortgage portfolio expanded by EUR 1.7 billion during the first quarter of 2025.

Corporate loans also increased by EUR 0.9 billion over the quarter. Net interest income, which the bank described as resilient, fell 2% year-on-year to EUR 1,560 million as lower short-term interest rates weighed. Fee income grew 8% year-on-year, with contributions from all client units.
