How we source, check and correct what we publish.
What we publish
The Global Banker covers banking and finance for people who work in the industry: bank executives, treasurers, risk and regulatory teams, investors and supervisors. We publish daily news, TGB Premium Intelligence research (research notes, regulatory briefs, regional and country reports), market profiles, and the annual TGB Bank Rankings.
How we report
- Primary sources first. Figures come from central banks, regulators, stock-exchange filings, audited annual reports, results releases and official statistics (IMF, World Bank, BIS). Where we rely on a news organisation, we say so.
- Every number is checked. Figures are checked against the original document before publication, including the unit, currency and period. Where an official figure is not published, we say what the figure is based on rather than estimate it.
- Clear dating. Data carry the period they refer to (for example "FY2025" or "June 2026"), and market profiles carry the month their data were last reviewed.
- Research tools. Our team uses data tools and AI-assisted research to gather and cross-check information. Editorial judgement, and responsibility for what we publish, stay with The Global Banker.
Rankings and awards
TGB Bank Rankings are built from audited financial statements under a published methodology. Banks cannot pay to be included, to change their position or to appear in a ranking. Every ranked figure links to its source filing.
Award decisions are made separately from commercial relationships. Sponsorship, advertising or event partnerships have no bearing on editorial coverage, rankings or award outcomes.
Independence and sponsored content
Commercial content is always labelled. Sponsored articles, partner briefings and advertising are marked as such and are produced separately from our editorial and research output.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct it promptly. Material corrections to figures or facts are made in the article itself, and where the change affects the meaning of a story we add a short note saying what was corrected and when.
