Brazil's Monetary Policy Committee, known as Copom, raised the Selic benchmark interest rate by 100 basis points to 14.25% at its meeting on 19 March 2025, delivering the unanimous decision in line with its prior guidance and pushing borrowing costs to their highest level since October 2016.

In its statement, Copom also offered forward guidance for the subsequent meeting, anticipating an adjustment of smaller magnitude at that point.
