The Central Bank of Kuwait's Board of Directors imposed a financial penalty of KD 20,000, equivalent to approximately USD 65,000, together with a written warning and a measure to issue an order on one of the local banks operating in the State of Kuwait. The combined enforcement action was announced on 29 July 2025 and followed a supervisory determination that the institution had committed repeated violations of the regulator's anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements, the CBK said in a disclosure published on its website.
The action was taken under Article 15 of Law No. 106 of 2013 on combating money laundering and terrorist financing, as amended. The penalties were imposed for violation of Article Ninth (items 1 and 4, paragraphs C, D, E and F) and repeated violation of Article Tenth/1/A of the CBK instructions issued on 16 February 2023.
