Citigroup announced on 20 November 2025 that Gonzalo Luchetti will succeed Mark Mason as Chief Financial Officer of the group in early March 2026, in a transition confirmed through a press release on the bank's corporate website.
Luchetti has served as Head of US Personal Banking since 2021, overseeing the bank's domestic retail and consumer-lending operations — a remit that includes credit cards, deposits and mortgages.
MASON MOVES TO ADVISORY CAPACITY
Mark Mason, who has served as Citi's CFO since 2019, will transition to the role of Executive Vice Chair and Senior Executive Advisor to CEO Jane Fraser following the handover in early March 2026. Mason has indicated his intention to pursue external leadership opportunities by the end of 2026.
TRANSITION DURING ORGANISATIONAL SIMPLIFICATION
The CFO succession takes place as Citi continues to execute the restructuring announced by Fraser in 2023, which consolidated the bank's operating model, eliminated several management layers, and reorganised its principal business segments.
In the same 20 November announcement, Citi reorganised the US Personal Banking business that Luchetti leads: Retail Banking is being combined with the Wealth business under Kate Luft, as Head of US Retail Banking and Citigold reporting to Andy Sieg, while US Consumer Cards becomes a standalone business led by Pam Habner, who will report directly to Jane Fraser and join the Executive Management Team.
