DBS appointed Gautam Banerjee to the boards of DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank with effect from 1 October. The appointment adds an independent director to both the listed parent and its banking subsidiary. Banerjee is chairman and senior managing director of Blackstone Singapore. An SGX filing named him a member of the Audit Committee and the Board Risk Management Committee.

Banerjee also serves on the boards of Singapore Telecommunications and GIC. He previously spent more than 30 years at PwC, including nine years as executive chairman of PwC Singapore. He retired from the professional-services firm in December 2012. DBS said he brings extensive experience in professional services, governance and strategic leadership.

THE APPOINTMENT COVERS BOTH DBS BOARDS

DBS Group Holdings is the listed parent, while DBS Bank contains the group’s core regulated banking business.

The Business Times separately reported the appointment and Banerjee’s Blackstone role. DBS chairman Peter Seah said Banerjee had developed deep expertise in governance, risk oversight and long-term value creation.

GOVERNANCE AND RISK EXPERIENCE

Banerjee’s disclosed background combines professional-services leadership with board and investment experience. His current roles include chairing Blackstone Singapore and serving on the Singtel and GIC boards. He will sit on the Audit Committee and the Board Risk Management Committee, according to the filing.

His appointment to both boards took effect on 1 October.
