Commercial International Bank Egypt agreed to invest up to EGP2 billion in MNT-Halan’s proposed share offering. The bank signed a cornerstone investment agreement with MNT Tech Holding for Financial Investments and MNT Investments. Its commitment covers shares in the international tranche of the planned Egyptian Exchange transaction.
The agreement was dated 24 September and disclosed after MNT-Halan announced plans to sell 20% of its shares. The fintech lender and payments group has said the offering is expected to include 320 million ordinary shares. Completion remains subject to market conditions and the required regulatory approvals.
ANCHOR INVESTOR JOINS OFFERING
CIB’s commitment gives the proposed transaction a named institutional buyer before the book is opened. The amount to be invested may be lower than the EGP2 billion ceiling, depending on the final terms set out in the offering documents.
MNT-Halan provides lending, payments, investment and other services through its application and a physical distribution network. The company reported about 7.9 million customers and cumulative financing disbursements of EGP178 billion by June 2026.
LISTING CONDITIONS REMAIN
The cornerstone agreement does not itself complete the equity investment or the listing. CIB would become a shareholder through the proposed offer only if its conditions are met and the transaction proceeds.
Investors will next watch for final regulatory clearance, publication of the approved prospectus and launch of the subscription period. The final price will determine the number of shares covered by CIB’s commitment and its resulting ownership stake.
