Emirates NBD reported net profit of AED 6.4 billion for the third quarter of 2026, broadly unchanged from a year earlier. The Dubai-based bank said income for the first nine months rose 15% to a record AED 42.2 billion. Profit before tax increased 4% over the same nine-month period to AED 24.3 billion.
Gross loans reached AED 833 billion at end-September, up 27% from the end of 2025, while deposits rose 19% to AED 935 billion. Excluding RBL Bank, loan and deposit growth was 18% and 12%, respectively. Total assets stood at AED 1.38 trillion, an 18% rise year to date.
EARNINGS MIX AND BALANCE-SHEET GROWTH
Operating profit before impairment rose 14% to AED 29.0 billion, supported by growth in both interest and non-funded income. Impairment allowances were AED 2.1 billion, primarily reflecting provisions at DenizBank, partly offset by continued recoveries at Emirates NBD. The group reported a 37-basis-point cost of risk and a 2.0% impaired-loan ratio.
The bank continued to spend on wealth management, digital banking and generative artificial intelligence. Its ENBD X app offered 237 services, compared with 150 when it was launched in 2023. Assets under management and administration in the UAE were 15% higher than in February 2026.
EXPANSION AND CAPITAL PRIORITIES
Emirates NBD said its purchase of a controlling stake in RBL Bank and its agreement to acquire HSBC Egypt’s retail banking business were central to regional expansion. The group’s reported loan growth included RBL Bank, while its loan book excluding RBL still expanded 18% from year-end. Capital and liquidity ratios remained solid, according to the bank, though it did not disclose those ratios in the release.
The results leave Emirates NBD balancing rapid balance-sheet expansion against higher provisions and the work of integrating acquisitions. Future disclosures will show whether deposit growth continues to fund lending without weakening asset quality. The next full-year update should also clarify the contribution from RBL Bank and progress on the proposed HSBC Egypt retail transaction.
