GCash, the Philippine mobile wallet, has formalised a partnership with the Philippine Statistics Authority to enable citizens to register for the national PhilSys identification system and open a GCash account simultaneously at a single point of contact. Under a co-location agreement between the two organisations, PSA's PhilSys-On-Wheels mobile registration sites will serve as joint access points for National ID enrolment and digital financial account creation.
The partners have also integrated a real-time digital verification capability under a separate agreement signed in October 2024. The National ID eVerify system has been integrated directly into the GCash application, enabling the wallet platform to authenticate a user's identity against the PhilSys database instantly at the point of account opening or for subsequent transactions requiring identity confirmation.
NATIONAL ID USE AMONG GCASH USERS
According to figures released alongside the announcement, over 56% of GCash users already used their PhilSys National ID for identity verification within the app prior to the launch of the formal co-registration arrangement.
GCash is operated by G-Xchange, Inc., a subsidiary of Mynt, the fintech company backed by Globe Telecom, Ayala Corporation and Ant International.
