HDFC Bank reported net profit of ₹16,736 crore for the third quarter of financial year 2025, covering the October to December 2024 period, a rise of 2.2% year on year. The results, announced on 22 January 2025, show net interest income climbing 7.7% to ₹30,650 crore, with net revenue for the quarter reaching ₹42,110 crore, up 6.3% against the same period a year earlier.
The bank's core net interest margin stood at 3.43% on total assets and 3.62% on interest-earning assets, following the completion of the bank's merger with HDFC Limited. Gross advances reached ₹25,426 billion as of December 2024, up 3% year on year, while the bank continued to prioritise deposit growth to improve its loan-to-deposit ratio.
PROFIT, TAX AND PROVISIONS
The gap between 2.2% net profit growth and the 7.7% gain in NII largely reflects a higher tax charge (₹5,111 crore against ₹3,058 crore a year earlier) and a 7.2% rise in operating expenses, which more than offset a fall in provisions to ₹3,154 crore from ₹4,217 crore.
