The Indian government appointed Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, widely known as CS Setty, as the new Chairman of State Bank of India with effect from 28 August 2024, as he took charge on Wednesday; the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet had cleared the appointment earlier in August. Setty steps into the role succeeding Dinesh Khara, who retired on reaching the age limit of 63, and will serve a three-year term.
