UCO Bank, the Kolkata-headquartered public sector lender, reported 19% year-on-year loan growth in the January-March quarter to reach Rs 2.62 lakh crore in advances. This robust expansion propelled the bank's total business—comprising advances and deposits—to Rs 5.89 lakh crore, a 15% increase from Rs 5.14 lakh crore a year earlier.
CREDIT EXPANSION LEADS CHARGE
Advances stood at Rs 2.20 lakh crore at the end of March 2025, UCO Bank said in a regulatory filing. Deposits climbed 11% to Rs 3.27 lakh crore from Rs 2.94 lakh crore. The share of low-cost current account and savings account (CASA) deposits rose to 38.48% of total deposits from 37.91% in the prior year.
The government held 90.95% of the bank's equity as of 31 March 2026.
Profit figures were not part of the provisional update; the credit-deposit ratio stood at about 80%.
The government's 90.95% holding is above the 75% maximum that India's 25% minimum public shareholding rule allows for promoters. The bank had yet to report its fourth-quarter and full-year profit.
