PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk reported net profit of IDR 30.4 trillion for the first half of 2026, an increase of 24.4% year on year, the state-controlled Indonesian lender told a press conference in Jakarta on 23 July.

The bank said the result was supported by strong growth in third-party deposits and solid intermediation performance. Total lending reached IDR 1,591 trillion, up 19.9% year on year, while bank-only third-party deposits rose 17.1% to IDR 1,710 trillion, meaning loan growth outpaced deposit growth over the period.

LENDING GROWTH LIFTS INTEREST INCOME

Director of Finance and Strategy Novita Widya Anggraini said deposit growth of around 17.1% had been channelled into lending, allowing loan assets to grow by 19.9%. The expansion in loans and deposits drove net interest income up by about 8%, she said.

Profitability remained strong, with return on equity of 24.3% and return on assets of 3.10% for the period. Novita said the performance was in line with the bank's strategy of directing credit towards prospective and resilient sectors.

ASSET QUALITY HOLDS

Asset quality stayed healthy at the end of the first half. The non-performing loan ratio stood at 0.98%, the coverage ratio was stable at 242% and the cost of credit was 0.52%.

Bank Mandiri is state-controlled and is one of the country's largest lenders. Its first-half figures combined profit growth of 24.4% with loan growth of 19.9% and deposit growth of 17.1%, alongside a 24.3% return on equity, a 3.10% return on assets and a non-performing loan ratio below 1%.
