KakaoBank reported cumulative nine-month net profit of KRW 375.1 billion for the period ending September 2025, a record for any nine-month period in the South Korean digital bank's history and a 5.5 per cent increase over the same period in 2024. Nine-month operating revenue reached KRW 2.33 trillion, with non-interest income up 26.7 per cent to KRW 835.2 billion, the bank said in its earnings release on 5 November 2025.

KakaoBank operates entirely through a smartphone application without physical branches. The record nine-month figure came even though third-quarter net profit fell 10.3 per cent year-on-year to KRW 111.4 billion.

DEPOSITS AND PLATFORM REVENUE

Deposit balances grew to KRW 65.7 trillion as of the end of the third quarter, a 21 per cent year-on-year increase.

Fee and platform revenue, which includes income from the bank's loan-comparison, advertising and investment services, rose 4.7 per cent year-on-year to KRW 231.2 billion in the first nine months. KakaoBank has been expanding its loan-comparison, advertising and investment platform services.

Non-interest income rose 26.7 per cent to KRW 835.2 billion, lifting its share of operating revenue to 36 per cent from 30 per cent a year earlier.

NINE-MONTH PROFIT

The KRW 375.1 billion cumulative net profit for the first nine months of 2025 is equivalent to approximately 259 million US dollars.

The record came despite a narrower net interest margin amid falling market rates and tighter household-lending rules in South Korea, which pushed nine-month interest income down 3.1 per cent.
