KCB Group, Kenya's largest bank by assets, reported a net profit of KSh 61.8 billion for the full year 2024, an increase of 65% from the KSh 37.5 billion recorded in 2023, the group disclosed in results published on 12 March 2025. The increase in profitability was driven by growth in both funded and non-funded income streams, alongside the rollout of risk-based loan pricing.
Total operating income reached KSh 204.9 billion, up 24% year-on-year, while net interest income rose 27.9% to KSh 137.3 billion. The group attributed the income growth in part to higher loan yields following the implementation of risk-based pricing, which enables KCB to more accurately reflect the individual credit profile of each borrower within the interest rate applied to that customer's facilities. Non-funded income also reached record levels during the year.
RETURN ON EQUITY AND ASSET QUALITY
Return on equity for the year improved to 24.6%. The non-performing loan ratio stood at 19.2% at the close of 2024. KCB has targeted bringing the group NPL ratio down to 14%–16% by the end of 2025.
