Swedish buy-now-pay-later company Klarna launched its credit card in the United States in April 2024, its first credit card in the US market.

The card allows US consumers to make purchases and repay the outstanding balance in instalments, a structure that mirrors Klarna's core buy-now-pay-later proposition but delivers it through a Visa card accepted wherever Visa is accepted.

WAITLIST PRECEDES FULL US ROLLOUT

Before making the card broadly available, Klarna opened a consumer waitlist to prospective American cardholders.

Other card products in the US market include the Apple Card, issued in a partnership with Goldman Sachs, and the Robinhood Gold Card. Affirm, a competitor in the instalment payments space, also offers its own card product in the United States.
