Moniepoint, the Nigerian fintech that achieved unicorn status in late 2024, has secured a strategic investment from Visa in January 2025. The amount was not disclosed.
Moniepoint reached its unicorn valuation — commonly defined as a private company valued at over one billion dollars — following a $110 million Series C funding round announced in October 2024. That round brought Moniepoint's total funding to more than $180 million. The company provides point-of-sale terminals, business accounts, and lending services to small and medium-sized enterprises across Nigeria.

The company has said Visa's investment will help it expand its services for African businesses.
