Nuvei was in advanced discussions to acquire Payoneer for roughly US$2.7 billion, according to people familiar with the matter, a potential transaction reported by Reuters and covered by Fintech News Singapore that aimed to combine Nuvei merchant payment capabilities with Payoneer’s global payout network.
DEAL DETAILS AND STATUS
The talks were described as advanced, but no deal had been signed and the sources cautioned that plans could change. The purchase price includes Payoneer’s cash, implying an enterprise value of about US$2.3 billion, the sources said. The sources said Nuvei could sign a deal to acquire New York-based Payoneer in the coming days. Nuvei and CDPQ did not immediately respond to requests for comment, while Payoneer and Advent declined to comment, Reuters reported.
Payoneer operated primarily as a cross-border payouts specialist, while Nuvei offered merchant acquiring and payment processing services. A deal would expand Nuvei's presence in emerging markets and give it access to Payoneer's marketplace clients, including Amazon, Walmart and eBay, Reuters reported.
