Orient Commercial Bank (OCB) has announced the appointment of Duong Duc Hung as General Director, effective 26 October 2026. The lender is listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol OCB.

The appointment comes with a restructuring of the bank's Executive Board, in which Chris Shayan has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. He is responsible for transformation, digitalisation and business development in the retail segment. Trinh Van Tuan, Chairman of OCB's Board of Directors, said the appointments are an important step to strengthen management capacity for the bank's next phase of development.

EXPERIENCE AND EXPECTED CONTRIBUTION

Duong Duc Hung has more than 20 years of experience in banking and finance, including senior management roles at a number of domestic and international organisations. He is expected to help improve OCB's operational efficiency, organisation and strategy implementation.

Duong Duc Hung said he is confident that he can make positive contributions and work alongside the OCB team to realise the set goals. Explaining his choice of OCB, he said the bank has built a strong reputation and foundation over the past 30 years and now faces opportunities for exceptional growth in the next phase.

TECHNOLOGY EXPERTISE JOINS THE EXECUTIVE TEAM

Chris Shayan is an expert in technology and artificial intelligence (AI). He is expected to promote the integration of technological capabilities with business needs, bring data into decision-making and develop solutions more tailored to each customer group.

Shayan was earlier appointed OCB's acting CEO, effective 1 June 2026. That appointment followed the departure of former CEO Pham Hong Hai, who stepped down in mid-May after a two-year tenure.

CHAIRMAN LINKS GROWTH TO GOVERNANCE AND TECHNOLOGY

Trinh Van Tuan said growth requires more than a sound strategy. In his view it also needs a synchronised combination of governance, technology and the ability to seize business opportunities, so that the bank delivers tangible value to the market and customers.

OCB has a workforce of more than 7,000 employees. The bank is focused on improving efficiency and building sustainable growth drivers for its future.

EARLIER CHANGES IN THE BANK'S LEADERSHIP

Nguyen Dinh Tung served as CEO of OCB from April 2012 until April 2024. On 29 November 2024, the bank announced that Truong Thanh Nam was resigning as Deputy General Director from 1 December 2024.
