Scotiabank published its 2024 Sustainability Report on 10 March 2025, disclosing that the bank delivered CAD 40 billion in climate-related finance during the year and had accumulated CAD 172 billion in climate-related finance since November 2018. That cumulative figure represents 49% of the CAD 350 billion target the bank set for 2030.
The report also stated that Scotiabank issued CAD 1.25 billion in sustainability notes during 2024, the largest sustainability issuance by any financial institution in Canada. Together with its inaugural EUR 1 billion five-year green bond in Europe and green notes in Mexico, the bank issued a total of CAD 5.7 billion in sustainability finance offerings in Europe, Mexico and Canada under its Sustainable Issuance Framework.
CLIMATE FINANCE AND DISCLOSURE
Scotiabank's climate disclosures are guided by OSFI Guideline B-15 and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures recommendations.
That leaves 51% of the CAD 350 billion goal to be reached by 2030.
