Stanbic Bank Uganda announced the appointment of Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa as its new Chief Executive, effective 1 March 2025. The appointment was first announced by Stanbic Bank Uganda in December 2024, subject to regulatory approval.
Stanbic Bank Uganda is a subsidiary of Standard Bank Group, whose Stanbic-branded subsidiaries operate across a number of sub-Saharan African markets. Its business spans corporate and investment banking, retail banking, and business banking.
AN EXTERNAL HIRE FROM ABSA
Kalifungwa, who succeeds Anne Juuko, joins from Absa Bank Uganda, where he was Managing Director, and brings nearly 30 years of experience, including more than 20 years in senior banking roles in Botswana, Zambia and Uganda.
Kalifungwa's appointment brings in an external candidate from rival lender Absa Bank Uganda, where he was Managing Director, after a period in which the post had been held on an interim basis.
