Warba Bank announced on 1 September 2024 the listing of its USD 500 million sustainable sukuk on the London Stock Exchange, marking the first sustainable sukuk ever issued in Kuwait and drawing investor orders of USD 1.8 billion — more than three and a half times the deal size. The five-year instrument had already been listed on Nasdaq Dubai on 12 August 2024.

The sukuk was issued under Warba Bank's Sustainable Finance Framework. Proceeds are earmarked exclusively for environmental, social, and institutional projects consistent with global sustainability objectives.

USD 2 BILLION SUKUK PROGRAMME

The transaction forms part of Warba Bank's wider USD 2 billion sukuk programme and brings the Kuwaiti lender's total sukuk listed on Nasdaq Dubai to USD 1.25 billion across three separate listings. The order book was 3.5 times the deal size.

LONDON LISTING

The sukuk is listed on both Nasdaq Dubai and the London Stock Exchange.
