Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), the country's largest Islamic bank, appointed Anggoro Eko Cahyo as its new President Director at the Annual General Meeting held on 16 May 2025 in Jakarta.
Anggoro succeeds Hery Gunardi, who had led BSI since the institution was formed through the merger of the Islamic banking subsidiaries of Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, and Bank Negara Indonesia. Hery Gunardi has been appointed as President Director of Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).
ANGGORO'S BACKGROUND
Anggoro previously served as President Director of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, Indonesia's workers' social security agency, from February 2021, and earlier as Deputy President Director of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
AGM AND REGULATORY APPROVAL
The AGM provided shareholder approval for the new leadership structure, with Anggoro's appointment to take effect once he passes the Financial Services Authority (OJK) fit-and-proper assessment.
