Barclays has appointed Craig Bright and Anne Marie Darling as Group Co-Chief Operating Officers and Co-Chief Executive Officers of Barclays Execution Services, effective 1 July 2025. The appointments replace a single COO with a joint model.
Alistair Currie, who had served as the bank's Group Chief Operating Officer, stepped down on the same date to pursue a portfolio career focused on board-level roles. Barclays said Bright and Darling had been working closely with Currie since April to ensure an orderly transition.
ANNE MARIE DARLING
Anne Marie Darling joined Barclays in April 2025, bringing with her a 25-year career at Goldman Sachs where she had reached partner level, holding that status for 12 years. Darling retired from Goldman Sachs in 2024.
Craig Bright, who is elevated into the co-COO role from within the organisation, joined Barclays in 2020 as Group Chief Information Officer and previously worked at Westpac and Citigroup.
BARCLAYS EXECUTION SERVICES
Barclays Execution Services is the legal entity through which the group delivers infrastructure and operational services across its retail, commercial and investment banking divisions.
No further changes were announced to the broader Group Executive Committee structure beyond the COO transition.
