Aunoy Banerjee has joined Citizens Financial Group as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective 24 October 2025, following his appointment announced on 12 August. Banerjee, who joins from Barclays, where he was CFO of Barclays Bank PLC, steps into the role at a bank that traces its founding to 1828. His arrival completes a CFO succession first announced on 12 August.
Banerjee succeeds John Woods, who departed the CFO position on 15 August 2025 after serving as CFO since March 2017. Banerjee's appointment had been announced on 12 August, three days before Woods left.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As CFO, Banerjee will be responsible for overseeing Citizens' financial reporting, treasury and capital management, investor relations, and the financial planning and analysis function that supports the bank's strategic decisions.
INTERIM CFO
Chris Emerson, head of corporate planning and enterprise finance, had served as interim CFO since Woods's departure on 15 August.
