Outside the Gulf, Islamic banking is gaining ground where supervisors and sovereign issuers are building it into the core of the system: Islamic lenders held 45.6% of Malaysian financing in 2023, Pakistan's Islamic banks took 23.2% of deposits, and Indonesia's Islamic banking market share rose to 7.44%.
