Mahesh Aditya assumed the role of chief executive of Santander UK Group Holdings plc and Santander UK plc on 1 March 2026, bringing to completion a leadership transition that was set in motion when his predecessor Mike Regnier announced his intention to step down in October 2025. The formal appointment of Aditya was confirmed earlier in the year.
Aditya joined the Santander group in 2017. He has served as group chief risk officer. He previously served as chief executive of Santander Consumer USA and also as chief risk officer for Santander's broader US operations.
PREDECESSOR
Regnier's decision to step down, announced in October 2025, was described as a decision to pursue other interests.
