Indian fintech Mintoak has acquired Dubai-headquartered loyalty technology company ICC Loyalty, the company announced on 4 August 2026. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal is aimed at expanding Mintoak's bank platform capabilities in West Asia and Africa, two regions where the Indian company has been building out its presence with a view to serving local banks looking for merchant-facing technology partners.

Mintoak operates a merchant and small-business platform sold to banks, allowing lenders to offer their business clients an integrated set of acceptance, payments, analytics and value-added services under the bank's own brand. Adding a specialist loyalty technology provider to that stack extends the range of features Mintoak can offer to bank partners and deepens the software-as-a-service proposition the company markets to its financial institution customers.

REGIONAL EXPANSION THROUGH ACQUISITION

West Asia and Africa have become priority markets for a wave of Indian fintechs seeking geographies with high growth in digital payments and where domestic banks are actively looking for platform partners to serve small and mid-sized business customers. Dubai, where ICC Loyalty is headquartered, has emerged as a hub for cross-border fintech activity across the Gulf, the wider Middle East and Africa, and has attracted a rising number of Indian technology and financial services companies looking to expand internationally.

By taking control of a regional loyalty technology provider, Mintoak inherits both technology and customer relationships that would otherwise take time to build organically in a new market. The move fits with a broader trend of Indian fintechs looking beyond their home market to sustain growth, particularly those operating in the payments infrastructure and bank-facing software segments where domestic markets have become intensely competitive.

Cross-border acquisitions of this kind also help fintechs shorten their sales cycles with bank customers in unfamiliar jurisdictions. Local knowledge, regulatory awareness and existing client relationships transfer with the target company, giving the acquirer a much faster path to revenue than a purely greenfield entry would allow.

LOYALTY AS A BANK PLATFORM FEATURE

Loyalty programmes have become a standard part of the value proposition that banks offer to merchants and small businesses, especially as competition for acceptance and settlement volumes has intensified. Bundling loyalty into a bank-branded platform can help lenders retain merchant customers, increase engagement with associated services such as lending and cash management, and generate additional data that can be used to inform credit decisions.

For Mintoak specifically, adding loyalty capabilities positions the company to offer a more complete stack to its bank partners in the newly targeted regions. Combining acceptance, analytics and loyalty in a single platform can reduce the number of vendors a bank needs to manage and simplify the technology architecture that supports its merchant business.

Mintoak said the acquisition will help it deepen its offering to bank partners in West Asia and Africa. The company did not provide details on the eventual integration timeline or organisational structure of the acquired business in the announcement carried on PR Newswire and reported by Indian and regional press, but flagged that the strategic focus is on expanding its bank platform footprint across the two regions.
