Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group announced on 16 December 2025 that Junichi Hanzawa would assume the role of President and Group CEO effective 1 April 2026. The appointment was disclosed in a regulatory filing and confirmed by the group in a public statement, transferring the most senior executive position at Japan's largest banking group from the incumbent, Hironori Kamezawa, who will simultaneously move to the position of Chairman as part of the same leadership transition.
SIMULTANEOUS CHANGES AT MUFG BANK
Masakazu Osawa will replace Hanzawa as President and CEO of MUFG Bank Ltd., the core commercial banking arm of the group, effective on the same date of 1 April 2026.
