National Australia Bank has appointed Andrew Irvine as its next Group Chief Executive Officer, effective 2 April 2024, succeeding Ross McEwan who will retire from executive responsibilities at that point.
Irvine brings direct NAB experience to the role, having served as the bank's Group Executive for Business and Private Banking since 2020. The division serves small and medium-sized enterprises as well as private clients.
IRVINE'S BACKGROUND AND APPOINTMENT
Andrew Irvine holds British-Canadian nationality and is a graduate of King's College London and Western University. He holds a BSc in Business Management and Commerce and an MBA.
MCEWAN'S DEPARTURE AND TRANSITION
McEwan, who joined NAB in 2019 after previously serving as chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland, oversaw a programme of cost reduction and strategic simplification.
