TD Bank Group has announced a series of senior leadership appointments effective 4 September 2026 designed to accelerate the strategy set out by Group President and Chief Executive Officer Raymond Chun, the Canadian lender said in a statement on 3 September 2026. The reshuffle reshapes the group's technology and strategy leadership at the top of the executive team.
Vlad Shpilsky has been named Group Head, Global Technology and Solutions, taking charge of the bank's technology and operations agenda. Renu Gupta has been appointed Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer, joining the group's Senior Executive Team. Chief Operating Officer Taylan Turan will leave the bank as part of the same set of changes.
NEW GROUP HEAD FOR GLOBAL TECHNOLOGY AND SOLUTIONS
Shpilsky's appointment as Group Head, Global Technology and Solutions places him at the top of a function that spans the technology, cyber security, data and operations platforms underpinning TD's retail, commercial and wholesale businesses. The GTS remit is central to Chun's stated strategy of driving productivity and modernising the bank's operating model across the group's North American footprint.
TD's technology agenda has been a strategic priority for the group as it seeks to improve customer experience, streamline internal processes and continue investment in areas such as fraud prevention and anti-money-laundering controls. Placing a dedicated Group Head at the top of the function signals continued executive attention to technology delivery and provides a single point of accountability at Senior Executive Team level.
The GTS appointment follows a period in which senior technology leadership at TD has evolved as part of the broader executive restructuring initiated under Chun's tenure, and gives the bank a clear leader for one of the most consequential functions in the current phase of its transformation programme.
STRATEGY AND COMMERCIAL ROLE JOINS SENIOR TEAM
Renu Gupta's appointment as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer creates a combined mandate covering group strategy and commercial priorities, and brings her onto the bank's Senior Executive Team. The role is designed to align strategic planning more tightly with commercial execution across TD's business segments, from Canadian personal and commercial banking to the US retail franchise and wholesale banking.
The bank said Chief Operating Officer Taylan Turan will leave the group, with the departure taking effect around the 4 September appointments. TD did not disclose in its brief announcement whether the COO title will be retained under the new structure or whether the responsibilities will be redistributed across the Senior Executive Team as part of the reshaped leadership arrangement. Turan's exit removes one of the most senior operating executives at the bank.
The reshuffle is the latest in a series of leadership adjustments at TD Bank Group under Chun, who has moved to shape the top team in line with his strategic priorities of driving accountability, accelerating technology delivery and rebuilding franchise momentum. With the new appointments effective 4 September 2026, attention will turn to how the reconfigured executive line-up executes against those priorities in the coming quarters, with Shpilsky at the head of the technology and operations agenda and Gupta driving strategy and commercial priorities across the group.
