How to read the table. Growth is the change between the FY2025 and FY2024 figures in the bank's own reporting currency, both taken from its FY2025 report (the FY2024 figure is the comparative as shown there, including any restatement). Figures are in billions of that currency. The page column gives the PDF page of each figure; the source link opens the report at that page. Methodology

Banks not in these tables

The universe is every banking group in the 2026 TGB Bank Rankings with total assets of at least US$50 billion. A figure is published only when it was confirmed by an independent check of the filing; the banks below are left out of one or both tables for the reason shown.

  • FY2024 net profit not confirmed by both readings: Davivienda Group (profit growth), Wenzhou Bank (profit growth).
  • FY2024 total assets not confirmed by both readings: Davivienda Group (asset growth), Wenzhou Bank (asset growth).
  • Net loss in FY2024, so profit growth is not meaningful: Flagstar Financial (profit growth), KeyCorp (profit growth), Norinchukin Bank (profit growth).
  • The FY2025 combined statements carry no FY2024 comparatives (dispensed under CMN Resolution 4,966 / BCB Resolution 352): Sicredi.
  • The filing's FY2024 comparative is not on the same basis as TGB's FY2025 profit (before interest on capital) and gives no FY2024 assets: Sicoob.
  • The linked document is a results release without the balance sheet or FY2024 figures: CTBC Financial Holding.
  • The linked filing could not be opened for checking: Saudi National Bank.
  • The linked filing does not show FY2024 comparatives: Caixa Econômica Federal, Resona Holdings.
  • High-inflation accounting (Türkiye and Argentina): T.C. Ziraat Bankası, VakıfBank, Türkiye İş Bankası, Halkbank, Akbank, Yapı Kredi.
How the rankings are built

Methodology

Growth Leaders compares each bank's 2025 total assets and net profit with 2024, using only the figures in its own FY2025 report. Every bank links to the page of the document its figures come from.

01

Measures and formula

growth = (FY2025 figure − FY2024 figure) ÷ FY2024 figure × 100
Asset growth
Consolidated total assets at the FY2025 year end against the FY2024 year end.
Net profit growth
Net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent (before distributions on additional Tier 1 instruments; for US banks, net income) for FY2025 against FY2024.

Both are calculated in the bank's own reporting currency, before any conversion into US dollars, so exchange-rate movements do not affect them. FY2025 is the latest audited financial year ending between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026 (for most banks the year to 31 December 2025; Japanese and Indian banks to 31 March 2026).

02

Source and comparatives

Both years are taken from the same document: the FY2025 annual report, audited financial statements or official results filing that the TGB Bank Rankings already link for each bank. The FY2024 figure is the comparative shown in that FY2025 document, so it includes any restatement the bank has made. Where that link could not be opened, another official copy of the same FY2025 report was used (the bank's stock-exchange or SEC filing, or another edition published by the bank), and the source link points to that copy. No other source is used.

The PDF page of every figure is recorded and shown in the tables, and each source link opens the document at that page. For filings published as web pages (such as some SEC filings) there is no page number.

03

How the figures were checked

Every figure was extracted once, with its page and the exact table row, and then checked independently: a second researcher re-opened each document, was told only where each figure should be, and read it again. The two readings were compared in code, and only figures on which they agree are published. Banks whose figures could not be confirmed this way are listed under "Banks not in these tables".

04

Who is included

All banking groups in the 2026 TGB Bank Rankings with total assets of at least US$50 billion, the same group of banks as the profitability and capital-strength tables, with these exclusions:

Türkiye and Argentina

Banks in high-inflation economies are excluded: Turkish banks' BRSA accounts are not adjusted for inflation, and Argentine banks restate their figures in constant pesos under IAS 29, so year-on-year growth is not comparable with other banks'.

Loss in FY2024

Profit growth is not shown for a bank that made a net loss in FY2024, because a percentage change from a loss is not meaningful. Its asset growth is still shown.

Unconfirmed figures

A bank is left out of a table if its filing does not show the FY2024 comparative, if the document could not be opened, or if the independent check did not confirm both years.

05

One-off items

Growth is calculated on reported figures. For every bank in the top 20 of either table, the bank's own FY2025 filing was read for one-off items in FY2025 or FY2024: items the filing itself singles out (for example as notable, specified, non-recurring or excluded from underlying results), such as gains on disposals, litigation or regulatory charges, goodwill impairments and integration costs. Items worth at least 10% of that year's reported net profit are named in a footnote with the page of the filing. Each was extracted once and confirmed by an independent check. The ranking itself is not adjusted.

06

Acquisitions

Growth includes the effect of acquisitions. Where a bank's FY2025 filing reports an acquisition completed during the year whose total assets were at least 5% of the bank's total assets at the end of FY2024, the bank is marked with an asterisk and the acquisition is named in the notes under the table.

07

Comparability notes

Inflation

Growth in local currency includes inflation, which differs widely between countries: a bank in a high-inflation economy can show strong nominal growth with little or no real growth.

Accounting frameworks

Banks report under different accounting frameworks (IFRS, US GAAP, Japanese GAAP, Indian GAAP and local regulatory standards). Figures are taken as reported.

One-off items

Net profit includes one-off gains, losses and provisions, which can make one year's growth unusually high or low.

Not a performance rating

Faster growth is not necessarily better: it can reflect acquisitions, inflation, risk-taking or a weak base year. The tables describe change; they do not rate banks.
