Safaricom, M-PESA Africa, Access Holdings, and Coronation Group announced a partnership on 25 March 2024 to explore cross-border remittance solutions linking East and West Africa, targeting four markets — Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania —. The partnership brings together mobile money technology, Pan-African commercial banking, and financial services.
Safaricom and M-PESA Africa provide the mobile payments platform infrastructure that underpins M-PESA, which operates in Kenya and Tanzania. Access Holdings, the Nigerian banking group whose flagship subsidiary Access Bank operates across 14 African countries, brings its Pan-African banking presence. Coronation Group contributes its financial services offering in West Africa.
