Stripe used its Berlin Tour event on 1 July 2025 to unveil a package of new capabilities aimed at the German market, including support for more than 25 new payment methods, a pay-by-bank option built on the European open banking infrastructure, and plans to allow businesses to hold, move and spend balances in multiple currencies including stablecoins.

Among the newly supported payment methods is Wero, the real-time payments solution developed by the European Payments Initiative.

STRIPE CAPITAL BRINGS NEXT-DAY FINANCING TO GERMANY

German businesses using Stripe's platform will gain access to Stripe Capital, the company's revenue-based financing product that offers next-day growth funding. The product, which has been available in the United States and certain other markets, calculates eligibility and repayment terms based on a business's transaction volume processed through Stripe.

Under the stablecoin-linked multi-currency account capability, businesses would be able to hold balances in multiple fiat and stablecoin denominations, supporting use cases such as cross-border supplier payments and treasury management for companies operating across different currency zones.

The pay-by-bank offering, built on European open banking rails established under the revised Payment Services Directive framework, allows customers to authorise payments directly from their bank accounts without entering card details.

STRIPE WORKS WITH MORE THAN HALF THE DAX40

Stripe said it works with more than half of the companies in the DAX40 index, including BMW, E.ON, Allianz and SAP. The DAX40 is Germany's benchmark stock market index comprising the country's forty largest publicly listed companies.

Globally, Stripe processes more than $1.4 trillion in payment volume annually.

The Berlin event is part of Stripe's broader Tour series, which takes the company's product announcements to major cities in key markets alongside its annual Sessions conference. Stripe said German companies would be able to hold, move and spend balances in multiple currencies, including stablecoins, from their existing Stripe account over the next year.
